Debate Meetings

Meets Tuesdays at 5:00 pm in CENT 318.

Bobcats finish second at GMU Invitational

The Texas State speech and debate team competed at the George Mason Invitational Speech Tournament, October 2, 2021. The tournament was held virtually.

Seton Hall was the tournament champion. The Bobcats finished second ahead of Alabama (3), Louisiana (4), and Rice (5).

Texas State was led with first place performances by Ashton Rios in Prose, and Abby Robertson in Program Oral Interpretation. Robertson also finished second in Poetry and fifth in Communication Analysis.

Aaron Delgado placed second in Persuasive speaking and third in Impromptu speaking.  

The Bobcats also had excellent performances from Johnny Vasallo who placed sixth in Impromptu and fourth in Prose. Hector Manriquez finished 3rd in After Dinner Speaking.


LBJ Society Debates the Abolition of the Electoral College

The LBJ Debate Society of Texas State University and the University of North Texas (UNT) Debate Team squared off Monday night in a public debate sponsored by the LBJ Museum of San Marcos and Texas State on the topic of abolishing the Electoral College. Check out the fully story.
